Ten Reasons Not To Eat Processed Food

I’ve said it before on this blog, but eating at home is the best way to eat healthy and know exactly what you are putting into your body. However, it’s not enough to just say “I’m eating at home tonight.” You have to be aware of what types of foods you eat, as well. Whether you’re dining out or eating at home, fresh or frozen, non-processed foods are best.

That’s not to say I don’t eat processed foods. I just try not to eat too many. A typical lunch for me is a microwaveable meal- usually a Weight Watchers “Smart Ones” or a “Lean Cuisine”. I used quotation marks for a reason- microwaveable meals such are usually not as healthy as they lead you to believe. To make up for the (usually) lower-calorie content, the food is loaded up with sodium and various unpronounceable chemical compounds. I eat those foods out of convenience, and not because I think they are better for me than fresh foods.

I don’t think any of us eat as much fresh foods as we should, and in our fast-paced culture, that’s a difficult thing to do. But II am trying to slow down at eat healthier.
