More on New York City’s Nutrition Information Policy

i’ve decided to use a new theme for this site. I tried a couple of different themes, and finally settled on the one you are looking at right now. Unless you are viewing it in your feed reader, and in which case you should click on the post title to view the new theme. If you have visited this site over the weekend, you’ve likely a couple of different themes. But I’m using this one now, as it fits better with the newest version of Wordpress.
The New York Times wrote an op-ed piece yesterday about the restaurant industry’s fight against New York City’s legislation. Responding to a legal challenge, New York revised the law to target only 10% of the city’s restaurants. Still, it’s a start, and a welcome one at that. The Times thinks it is a black eye for the industry, because the amount of money that was spent fighting the lawsuit could have been spent for better public awareness of calorie amounts.

BOARD OF HEALTH VOTES TO INVITE PUBLIC COMMENT ON NEW CALORIE LISTING PROPOSAL FOR CHAIN RESTAURANTS
I encourage everyone to visit the New York City Dept. of Health web site to read and comment on their proposal to require restaurants with more than 15 locations to post nutritional information on the menu. I think it’s a good idea, but I don’t live in New York, so I don’t know if my comments count or not.
