Pizza Trio For You and Me-o

Sorry about that headline… I couldn’t think of anything that rhymed well with ‘trio’. Today’s topic is pizza- the staple night owls, college students, and computer programmers everywhere. And why not? It’s a complete meal in the palm of your hand- veggies, dairy, meat, fruit (sometimes). The Italians were onto something when the invented the pizza. Although I’m not that today’s pizza is what they had in mind…

We have national chains, we have regional chains, we have local joints, and everyone has their favorite. Mine is Pizzaville, a neighborhood pizza joint. Gourmet pizzas, plain pizza, gas-station pizza, take and bake pizza… it’s everywhere. I have nutritional information about three national pizza chains- Pizza Hut (bleh!), Little Caesar’s (meh), and Cici’s (Mac and cheese pizza- yum!).

I try to stay away from Pizza Hut, as their crust has always been too doughy for me. But I did find nutritional information for their menu. Unfortunately, it is a .pdf file, but you can download it here.

Little Caesar’s is known for their “Hot-n-Ready” pizza. It’s nothing spectacular, but at least I can feed my family every now and again for $5+tax. That’s a pretty good deal. My kids like the plain cheese pizza, so everybody wins. I don’t know if they have nutritional information available in their stores, but I did find it online at the Little Caesar’s website. Their site, by the way, could use some modernizing. It looks sooo late 90s. Little Caesar, if you are reading this, call me ;-)

Cici’s Pizza really tries to give back to the community. Our local Cici’s is always having fundraiser nights. Our church youth group earns money whenever our church eats at Cici’s. I like their buffet, because I can get what I want (good thing) and as much as I want (bad thing). It’s easy to overdo it and completely stuff yourself on pizza. I’m glad they have put their nutrition facts online, and it’s part of their site, not an annoying .pdf file.

I’ll try to get more nutrition facts from the other pizza chains (is Godfather’s even around anymore?), and I’ll post the information as I get it. Since we’re on the subject of pizza, what’s your favorite pizza, and who makes it? Post your replies in the comments.
