Nutritional Information From Bob Evans, Of Course

One of my family’s favorite restaurants, Bob Evans, provides their nutritional information online. Unfortunately, due to their use of Javascript, I can’t directly link to it. Place your mouse pointer over the ‘Our Restaurants’ item in the left-side navigation menu. Next, select ‘Nutritional Information’ from the popup menu. A page listing their menu items, grouped by category (Breakfast, Lunch, Salads, etc.), appears. Click on any category to display the nutritional information for each item in the group.

Bob Evans provides a lot of information about their menu items. In addition to standard information such as calories, total fat, and carbs, they also list the primary ingredients of the menu item. Additionally, fiber content, serving size, and the like are also listed. It’s all presented in a tabular format, and clicking a menu item causes the information for that item to appear. It’s a nice attempt to avoid information overload. Unfortunately, the javascript doesn’t work with Firefox, so you’ll need to use IE. However, if can’t/choose not to use IE, the Bob Evans site works with the IE tab plugin for Firefox.

All-in-all, Bob Evans provides a wealth of nutritional information (in addition to recipes- Yummy!) on their site. Lack of support for Firefox was disappointing, but nothing that can’t be overcome. By the way, Bob Evans also operates the Mimi’s Cafe restaurants, which will be discussed in an upcoming post! Stay tuned!
